The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation’s vision is to eradicate the stigma around mental health issues in the African-American community.What We Do
Our mission is to provide support and bring awareness to mental health issues that plague our community. We partner with other nonprofit organizations who offer programs that educate, celebrate, and make visible the positive impact of mental health and wellness.Who We Serve
We provide resources to individuals and organizations who:- Offer mental health services and programs to young people in urban schools;
- Combat recidivism within the prison system;
- Ensure cultural competency in caring for African-Americans; we offer scholarships to African-American students who seek a career in the mental health field.
Our Strategic Partnerships
BLHF aligns with partners throughout the country to bring affordable options for mental health services and programs to communities in need. Providers, researchers, educators and community organizers offer free or reduced mental health care, restorative practice, training and family programs in urban school districts, technology that gives access to mental health support, and education to eradicate the stigma around mental health issues.Interested in becoming a partner?
